After Chris Gayle refused to honour his contract with Somerset to play there was a talk about suing him for breach of contract. However after receiving legal advice Somerset has decided not to go with legal action. They stated that the benefits of not suing outweighed those of proceeding with legal action. After fallout with his home team cricket board for controversial comments and remaining out of international cricket, he has returned to their fold after resolving the existing issues. The Somerset cricket club stated that they were disappointed but were ready to let the matter slide as Gayle had maintained communication and had been honest about the whole issue.
