Ip Management & Protection Strategy

Biz & Legis was approached by a company ABC registered in Florida, which is a small business outsourcing marketplace, to formulate the IP strategy for its website in order to protect its software code, design, User Interface and Content.

Issues

The core issues dealt with in formulating the IP strategy where in analyzing the IP Assets and Asset Quality, including understanding and defining the business's Core IP, IP Risks and Risk Management, from competitors and other third parties, IP Licensing, defining strategies to own or control contract based IP created in collaborations or partnerships; and IP Standards, defining strategies and processes for the creation and implementation of de facto standards or contributions to industry standards. Also as ABC does its business in India, Philippines, Belarus, Argentina, Mexico (the list keep growing) it demanded a higher management and protection strategy.

Theoretical Strategy

Detailed study and analysis of the business model, the IP assets of ABC, and used the patent information available in patent databases in developing the strategy.

Operational Strategy

Biz & Legis's IT and IP team were assigned to work on this. Identify the issues and Conduct an initial study of the website primarily its web activity, its present and future plans. Conducted an IP audit to identify ABC's valuable IP assets and other relevant information to develop an IP strategy. Deliver the Final Draft after "TOTAL QUALITY ANALYSIS". Do post delivery follow up.

With the Final Document and Legal Memo, we end with a basic plan for policing and enforcing ABC's IP assets.
